Special Needs homes in age-restricted buildings are often occupied by younger residents, and these two groups often have very different lifestyles and needs. Through a deep-dive case study, this session will explore the best practices for how to meet the needs of both groups while still creating a harmonious community of first choice for residents and owners alike. Attendees will learn collaborative programming strategies to create a more efficient product and financial structuring that enables maximum site utilization. At the end of the workshop, participants will understand how both demographic groups can afford to live in a senior and special needs unit, and how a non-profit can collaborate with a for-profit developer for inter-generational affordable development.
