In New Jersey, people of color control more than $100 billion of disposable income. Racially diverse and communities can tap into this pool of wealth to attract and keep more dollars. This workshop focuses on how arts and cultural activities oriented to people of color can build more sustainable community economic development. At the end of this workshop, participants will understand the particulars of the multicultural economy in New Jersey and how to identify and engage potential visitors; how to identify, enhance and promote local cultural assets; and how to protect cultural assets from the negative effects of gentrification.
