Maria Maio-Messano serves as HUD’s contact to the New Jersey Congressional Delegation, State and Local officials and stakeholders. She is the point of contact for Secretarial Initiatives including Mayors Challenge to End Veterans Homelessness, Camden Promise Zone and Community Partnerships. Prior to this position, Ms. Maio-Messano served as the Executive Director of the Jersey City Housing Authority, the second largest in New Jersey, where she was responsible for the oversight of 2300 Public Housing Units, 4000 Vouchers and 130 Assisted Housing Units. Ms. Maio-Messano has also served on the Hudson County Affordable Housing Coalition and Hudson County Alliance to End Homelessness. She has received numerous professional awards including United Way’s Congresswoman Mary T. Norton Award of Excellence, LISC Deborah Barnes Community Development Champion, The Boys and Girls Club Community Service Award and Jersey City Legacy Award.
